Co-browsing: see the visitor's page, safely

Ask a visitor to share their page so you can see what they see. They must say yes, sensitive fields are hidden, you can't control their page, and either side can stop at any time.

Describing a page in words is slow. With co-browsing the visitor shows you.

How it protects the visitor

  • The visitor has to say yes first.
  • You see only the page they are on, never their computer.
  • Everything typed into a field, every password, and anything marked with data-frosvo-mask is masked before it leaves their browser.
  • Scripts are removed and the page is shown in a sandbox.
  • You never control their page.
  • Either side can stop at any moment.

Start sharing

  1. Open a website chat in the Inbox.
  2. Click Ask to see their screen (the co-browse button).
  3. The visitor sees your request and chooses whether to accept. The button shows Asked… while you wait, and you can click to withdraw it.
  4. When they accept, a viewer opens showing The visitor's page. If their page is still loading you see "Waiting for their page…"

While you are watching

  • Click anywhere in the viewer to point. They see a circle on that spot.
  • A timer shows when sharing ends, for example "ends in 24 min".
  • Use Close the viewer to hide it while sharing continues, or End sharing to stop. The chat then shows "Sharing has ended."

Limits

  • Sharing ends by itself after 30 minutes.
  • A request nobody answers lapses after two minutes.
  • Co-browsing is available on the Plus plan and above.

Hide extra information

Add the attribute data-frosvo-mask to any element on your site that should never be shown, such as an account number box. It is blanked in the viewer.

Good practice

Tell the visitor why you are asking, and say when you are done. Pair it with an audio or video call when you need to talk them through something. See live visitors to see which pages people are on, and security and privacy for how Frosvo handles visitor data.

Frequently asked questions

Can I click or type on the visitor's page?

No. You only watch. You can click in the viewer to point, and the visitor sees a circle at that spot.

What do I see inside form fields?

Nothing. Every field's value and every password is masked before the page leaves the visitor's browser, and so is anything you mark with data-frosvo-mask.

How long does sharing last?

Up to 30 minutes. A request that nobody answers lapses after two minutes.

Which plans have co-browsing?

Co-browsing comes with the Plus plan and above.
