Customers who log in to your site expect you to know who they are. Frosvo can show their name and email to your team straight away, the way other chat tools do, instead of a visitor number.
Step 1: tell the chat who is signed in
On the pages where a customer is logged in, add this after the Frosvo snippet:
`` Frosvo.setUser({ email: "ada@example.com", name: "Ada Khan" }); ``
Fill the email and name from your own system, on the server, for the logged-in person only. That is all: your team now sees Ada Khan in the inbox, the visitor list and the notifications. On a customer's first page the chat may take a second to load; the name appears as soon as it does.
The WordPress plugin and the WHMCS module can do this for you: turn on their option to send logged-in users' details (in WHMCS it is called Signed-in clients).
Step 2 (recommended): prove it's them
Anyone could type any email into a page's code, so without a signature Frosvo shows the details but marks them not verified. To verify:
- Go to Settings → Websites and click Identity verification.
- Choose the website and click Turn on. Copy the secret it shows and keep it on your server only. Never put it in a web page. If you lose it, click Make a new secret; the old one then stops working.
- On your server, compute the signature for each signed-in customer with the secret (the window shows ready-to-copy examples for Node and PHP) and pass it along:
`` Frosvo.setUser({ id: user.id, email, name, hash }); ``
Verified customers get a verified badge, and their conversations follow them across browsers and devices.
What your team sees
- The visitor's name and email in the inbox, visitor list and notifications, instead of "Visitor 012".
- A contact record is created, so you can find them later in Contacts.
- If they were already chatting anonymously when they logged in, it is the same conversation.
Common problems
- Still shows "Visitor 012". Check that
setUserruns on the page after the Frosvo snippet, with a non-empty email. - Verification fails. The signature must be made with the secret of that same website, from the exact email or ID you pass.
- Several websites. Each website has its own secret.
