Telegram is one of the simplest channels to connect. Customers write to your bot, and you answer from the same inbox as website chats.
Before you start
- A Telegram account on your phone or desktop.
- You must be an owner, or have the Channels permission.
Step 1: create the bot
- In Telegram open a chat with @BotFather.
- Send
/newbotand follow the questions for a name and a username. - Copy the token BotFather gives you. Keep it private: anyone with it controls the bot.
Step 2: save it in Frosvo
- Go to Channels, click Add channel and choose Telegram.
- Pick the Website the conversations belong to and give the connection a name.
- Paste the Bot token.
- Choose a Webhook secret, a long random value of 32 to 256 letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens, and paste it too.
- Click Save and check. Saved secrets are never shown again; leave a secret blank later to keep it.
Step 3: register the callback
When the account check passes, the Steps to turn it on panel shows the address to add, with a Copy button. Register it with Telegram's setWebhook method, passing your webhook secret as the secret_token parameter. Then tick the box that says you registered the callback.
Step 4: check and enable
- Make sure Account checked has a tick: Frosvo confirmed the token works.
- Click Turn on messaging.
- Send a message to your bot from Telegram. It should appear in the Inbox as a conversation from Telegram.
- Reply from the inbox and confirm it arrives in Telegram.
