Some customers prefer a text. With a Twilio number you can answer them from the inbox.
What you need
- A Twilio account.
- An SMS-capable number, bought or ported in Twilio, or a Messaging Service.
- Owner or Channels permission in Frosvo.
Step 1: collect your Twilio details
- Buy or port an SMS-capable number in Twilio, or create a Messaging Service.
- From the Twilio console copy your Account SID and Auth Token.
Step 2: save in Frosvo
- Go to Channels, click Add channel and choose SMS.
- Pick the website and name the connection.
- Paste the Twilio Account SID, the Sending number (or Messaging Service SID) and the Twilio Auth Token.
- Click Save and check.
Step 3: tell Twilio where to send texts
When the account check passes, the Steps to turn it on panel shows the address to add, with a Copy button. In Twilio open the number, find A message comes in and set it to that URL with the method HTTP POST. Twilio signs each request with your Auth Token, and Frosvo checks the signature. Then tick I have added this address in Twilio.
Step 4: check and enable
Make sure Account checked has a tick, then click Turn on messaging. Text your number from a phone and confirm the message appears in the Inbox. Reply and check it arrives as a text.
Things to keep in mind
- Texts are short. Keep answers brief.
- Carriers have their own rules about business texting. Check Twilio's requirements for your country before sending marketing messages.
- Each text can cost money on your Twilio account.
Troubleshooting
If nothing arrives, check the webhook in Twilio and the status shown on the Channels page. The troubleshooting guide lists common causes. For other channels see WhatsApp and the channels overview.
Common questions
Can I use a Messaging Service instead of a number? Yes. Enter its SID, which starts with MG, as the sending number.
What if replies stop after I change the number? Update the webhook on the new number and open the channel with Edit and click Save and check.
